Warehouse maintenance walkthrough essentials
Busy warehouse operations can make small building defects easy to miss. A consistent walkthrough helps team members document and escalate issues before they interrupt operations.
1. Walking and working surfaces
Look for damaged flooring, debris, leaks, loose floor transitions and areas where pedestrian routes are obstructed. Report immediate hazards under your employer's safety policy.
2. Doors, docks and lighting
Note visible damage to dock doors, seals, bumpers, exterior access points and lighting. Do not attempt repairs to springs, powered equipment or electrical systems without suitable training and authorization.
3. Storage and equipment conditions
Identify visible rack damage, unusual vibration or noise and signs of leaks. Formal rack, fire protection, lift truck and other regulated inspections need trained or qualified personnel as applicable.
4. Document corrective action
Record location, a clear description, severity, person notified and close-out evidence. Look for repeated defects in the same zones to inform prevention.
This guide is general information. Check manufacturer instructions, workplace procedures, local requirements, and qualified professionals for regulated, hazardous or specialized work.
