How to use this form
- Describe the symptom. Include exact location and asset ID so a technician can find the issue without repeated questions.
- Triage based on impact. Safety and critical outages need immediate escalation, not an ordinary queue.
- Assign a clear owner. Record a target date and access restrictions.
- Close the loop. Note labor, parts, resolution and whether the requester was notified.
Common questions
What should a maintenance work order include?
A useful request records who reported it, the location, a specific problem description, urgency, assignment, status and completion notes. Asset identifiers, photos, labor and materials make follow-up easier.
Is a work order the same as a maintenance request?
A request describes a reported issue. A work order usually adds assignment, scheduling, execution and completion tracking. Small teams may use one form for both stages.
When should I use work order software?
When requests are frequently lost in email, several employees assign jobs, or you need reliable history and spending visibility, a shared work order system can reduce manual follow-up. See Facilory's work order features or review current pricing and trial details.
